Amazon’s Dark Tower Adaptation Goes into Production Soon

By February 14, 2019Adaptations, News

The movie adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower was not well received by fans, but we have heard that Amazon Studios are working on a series adaptation and were hoping it might offer a better adaptation of the books.

The show is being developed by Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead), Akiva Goldsman (Titans, Star Trek: Discovery) and Stephen King himself and it looks as though shooting will start in mid-April!

The show intends on distancing itself from the catastrophically bad movie adaptation, and even Stephen King has confirmed that the show will be a complete reboot. Amazon has a great track record with series adaptations and so we’re hoping for good things.

Amazon Studios say that the series will put the focus on Roland Deschain, a young boy from a long line of ‘gunslingers’ and his ka-tet. We don’t yet know who will be playing each role, the Studio is currently looking at actors and actresses aged 16-18. When asked what the series would entail, Nikolaj Arcel who is helping to develop the series says it will dive back into the books, specifically Wizard and Glass, and The Gunslinger.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on news of the adaptation and are hoping that Amazon gives the fans the adaptation they’ve all been waiting for!
