David Morrissey Cast in Amazon’s Adaptation of ‘Good Omens’

By June 24, 2018Adaptations, News

It was recently announced that Amazon has begun work on an adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s 1990 novel Good Omens. The book takes a comedic look at the End Times as an angel named Aziraphale and a demon called Crowley attempt to stall the apocalypse in order to continue enjoying their cushy existence on Earth.

David Tennant has been cast as Crowley and Michael Sheen will play Aziraphale. It was also revealed that Mad Men’s Jon Hamm will play Angel Gabriel and Parks and Recreation’s Nick Offerman will portray a U.S. Ambassador and father of the child Warlock. It has now been announced, via director Douglas McKinnon on Twitter, that the actor David Morrissey has been cast as play Captain Vincent, captain of the pleasure cruiser Morbilli. Morrissey is best known for his roles in Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, and the film Centurion, and is a fine addition to an already star-studded cast.

Good Omens will be a six-part series and will be available to watch on Amazon Prime. It is being created as part of a partnership between the BBC and Amazon and is expected to be released in 2019. Neil Gaiman is serving as the series’ executive producer and it looks like Terry Pratchett would definitely approve of the adaptation. Pictures have already been released showing both Tennant and Sheen in their costumes as Crowley and Aziraphale. It may still be a while off, but we can’t wait for the apocalypse to begin!
