The original Pinocchio story was written by Carlo Collodi in 1883. Since The Adventures of Pinocchio was written there have been many different versions created throughout the years. Most of the remakes or adaptations have followed the original story closely however one French graphic novelist has come at it at a totally new angle.
Pinocchio, Histoire d’un Enfant is the disturbing and nightmarish brainchild of artist and author Ausonia.
The new take on the classic tale takes the traditional Pinocchio story and twists it inside out… Almost literally. In the original tale a human man makes a puppet out of wood, in Ausonia’s version a wooden man makes his puppet out of flesh, bone and sinew…
