Gentleman in Moscow to be Adapted for Television

By April 8, 2018Adaptations, News

Amor Towles novel Gentleman in Moscow proved one of the big hits of last year and now we hear the news that it’s to be adapted for television, and Kenneth Branagh is to star and produce.

We’ll have to wait a while yet but the project will bring together another collaboration between Branagh and Mark Gordon who worked together on the recent adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express.

In addition to producing the adaptation, Branagh will also play protagonist Count Alexander Rostov who, after being named an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin.

Not much is known about the project this early on in the announcement, but we do know the adaptation will be filmed by EntertainmentOne, or eOne, a Toronto based production company. It’s not yet known where the adaptation will air, but it’s expected to eventually air on streaming services.

Branagh counts many film and television roles to his name and many of these adaptations including Murder on the Orient Express, the Harry Potter franchise, Wallander and others.

Production hasn’t yet started on the adaptation so if you are hoping to read the book before you watch it, you still have plenty of time to do so.
