By February 24, 2018Adaptations, Literature

Oscar winner and Black Panther actress Lupita Nyong’o is set to star in Born a Crime, the film adaptation of The Daily Show host Trevor Noah’s bestselling memoirs: Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood.

After its release in 2016 Noah’s memoirs spent 26 weeks on the bestseller list and has won the James Thurber Prize for American Humor and two NAACP Image Awards.

Nyong’o will play Noah’s mother, Patricia, an important figure during her son’s formative years. She was shot in the head by her partner, Noah’s stepfather, while returning from a church service in 2009, and thankfully survived.

Trevor Noah is producing the project through his production company Ark Angel Productions alongside Lupita Nyong’o and others.
