Matt Haig Announces Adaptation of A Boy Called Christmas

Published in 2016, Matt Haig’s A Boy Called Christmas, illustrated by Chris Mould, is a magical children’s book that teaches you to believe in the impossible. Haig wanted to create “the most hopeful story possible, after spending months talking about Reasons to Stay Alive.”

This December, Matt Haig had a festive present for his readers. Just in time for Christmas, Matt Haig has announced the exciting news that A Boy Called Christmas has been made into a film.

The film will feature a star-studded cast including; Maggie Smith, Toby Jones, Sally Hawkins, Jim Broadbent, Kristen Wiig, Michael Huisman and Stephen Merchant as Miika the mouse. While the phenomenal young actors Zoe Colletti and Henry Lawfull, (pictured in the film still as Blitzen and carrying Miika in his pocket). The film is directed by the Gil Kenan.

The film adaptation of A Boy Called Christmas will be released in 2021 and keep an eye out as a teaser trailer is set to drop next week.
