Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ Trailer Released

By July 30, 2019Adaptations, News

If you’re eagerly awaiting a new fantasy show to check out following the end of HBO’s Game of Thrones, then you may want to take a look at the upcoming Netflix show The Witcher, which is based on the books of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Set in a gritty fantasy world, The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia, a monster slayer who’s contracts often find him tangled up in political plots, morally grey battles of good and evil, and encountering things that go bump in the night.

When Netflix announced it would be adapting the books, there was a great deal of anticipation from fans. We’ve seen a few tidbits over the months, but now a full trailer has been released which gives us a look at Geralt in action.

Superman actor Henry Cavill will star as the grizzled monster hunter and Freya Allan plays the role of Princess Ciri, a child with a great destiny ahead of her. As we previously reported, Henry Cavill was actually a fan of the books before he got cast in the show and had also played the equally popular games based on the novels.

An exact release date for The Witcher is yet to be specified but it looks like we can expect to catch it on Netflix in late 2019.
