Ernie Cline’s novel Ready Player One is set to hit our screens on the 30th of March 2018.
The story is set in the year 2045, where people leave their troubles behind in the virtual reality world of the OASIS (Ontologically Anthropocentric Sensory Immersive Simulation). The movie is brought to us by Steven Spielberg, so unsurprisingly it looks like it’ll be a stunning cinematic ride through a dystopian world.
At San Diego Comic-Con the first teaser of Ready Player One was released, offering us a taster of what was to come. The movie is set to star Tye Sheridan as Wade Owen Watts/Parzival and Olivia Cooke as Samantha Evelyn Cook/Art3mis, with musical score by the wonderful Alan Silvestri.
On December 10th the trailer was shown on a Facebook live feed along with a chat the author, Ernie Cline. During the chat, Cline answered questions on the origins of the story, his journey writing it, and his inspirations and influences. There were also strong hints of a sequel which is great news for those already a big fan of the novel.
