The Art of Racing in the Rain is Coming to the Big Screen

By July 21, 2019Adaptations, News

I absolutely love good dog books, and The Art of Racing in the Rain definitely comes under the category of good dog books. It’s one of those books that stay with you forever, narrated by Enzo, a golden retriever, The Art of Racing in the Rain follows the life of Denny Swift, racing car driver as viewed through the eyes of his dog.

And I realise I might be late to the party here, but I just heard it’s coming to the big screen and I cannot wait!

I suspect this is going to be a movie to make grown men cry. Based on my own memories of the book, the trailer made me cry. The relationship between Enzo and Denny is absolutely wonderful and the entire book is life-changingly magical as Enzo uses racing tips to navigate life in the best way possible.

From 20th Century Fox, who are completely responsible for all the Marley and Me tears, comes what looks like an amazing adaptation! In keeping with the theme of the book, Enzo narrates and is voiced by Kevin Costner, and I couldn’t think of anyone better than Milo Ventimiglia to play Denny.

The movie is in theatres on August 9th, but I highly recommend you read the book first, while you still have time! Here’s the trailer.
