Mary Shelley’s life was so full of passion and drama that it is perfect for the movies, and a new film directed by Haifaa Al Mansour hopes to do the great writer’s life justice.

Love, lust, and loss colour the story of Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin and Percy Shelley which resulted in the classic horror tale Frankenstein. Elle Fanning (Maleficent, Box Trolls) and Douglas Booth (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) star as Mary and Percy, and take us with them on their heart-rending journey.

‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ Will Deliver Answers, Promises Rowling

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald was recently released and some fans have found themselves feeling a little perplexed given some of the revelations the film gives us about certain characters. Others also argued that the second film left a lot of big questions unanswered.

Trailer for the Third and Final Season of a Series of Unfortunate Events Released

In early 2017, the first season of Netflix’s adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events books was released. The show saw Neil Patrick Harris star as the dastardly Count Olaf and both he and the show enjoyed a strong response from fans and critics. Netflix to Adapt Various Dahl Classics

We’ve seen many of Roald Dahl’s books come to the big screen, but he also has a huge collection of works that has never been adapted, and now Netflix has announced plans to adapt several of Dahl’s classics and have plans for a ‘story universe’ that goes beyond the author’s written work.

Classics such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Esio Trot, The Twits and The BFG are to get the Netflix treatment with the author’s estate announcing that there is to be a selection of animated adaptations created by the streaming giants.

Stephen King’s The Outsider Optioned for Television

It’s only a few months since the big release of Stephen King’s The Outsider but the news is it’s already been optioned for television and a ten-part series is in the works!

It’s reported that Media Rights Capital has picked up the rights to King’s latest epic tome and plan to turn it into a ten-episode adaptation. No partner network has yet been announced but it’s likely to go to one of the many streaming services now available.

Sarah Govett‘s The Territory Optioned for Television

I was lucky enough to meet Sarah Govett at a book signing event last year and she is the loveliest lady. Govett is the author of The Territory, a YA trilogy that looks at a post-apocalyptic world after global warming and rising sea levels.

The fantasy thriller is set in the UK where dry land is scarce and teenagers must pass a exam or be sent to the disease-ridden wetlands, but the system is skewed to favour children from wealthy families who can afford information nodes, impregnated into the backs of their necks.

Du Maurier’s Rebecca is coming to Netflix

Daphne Du Maurier’s classic novel Rebecca is coming to Netflix soon thanks to Working Title films.

Armie Hammer and Lily James have been named as the stars of the show with both actors quite familiar with literary adaptions. Lily James has appeared in War and Peace, CinderellaThe Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie SocietyPride & Prejudice and Zombies and Armie Hammer in The Social Network and Call Me By Your Name.

Jane Goldman (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar ChildrenStardustThe Woman in Black) wrote the screenplay which will be directed by Ben Wheatley.

The movie will be released on Netflix in 2019- we will let you know all the details when they are released!
