Books and Music Joined Together in Art

By December 21, 2016Arty

This year has been one that has exemplified the blurring of music and literature as books and music have continually joined together during the last twelve months and culminating in musician, Bob Dylan winning the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Now art director and illustrator Chris Thornley who is better nown as “Raid71“ has blurred those lines even further by turning his 2012 illustration series featuring song lyrics by British band The Smiths into a set of art prints in the classic Penguin book cover design.

These beautifully evocative signed and numbered prints are available to buy individually or as a set of three and are available through the Raid71 website.

How Soon Is Now

I am the son
And the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir

Panic

Burn down the disco
Hang the blessed DJ
Because the music that they constantly play
It says nothing to me about my life
Hang the blessed DJ
Because the music they constantly play

Bigmouth

And now I know how Joan of Arc felt
Now I know how Joan of Arc felt
As the flames rose to her roman nose
And her Walkman started to melt
Oh

I wonder what Morrissey thinks of these and if perhaps he even has a set up on his wall at home.
