By April 5, 2017Authors, Literary Events, News

It’s been announced this week that US Senator Bernie Sanders will join the literary guests at this year’s Hay Festival, the 30th anniversary year for the event. As always, the event will be jam-packed with guest speakers at more than 800 planned events between 25th May and 4th June in Hay-on-Wye.

More well known speakers will include Bernie Sanders, Man Booker Prize winner, Paul Beatty, director Ken Loach, children’s authors Judith Kerr, Julia Donaldson and Chris Riddell, and novelists Jeanette Winterson, Colm Toibin, Elif Shafak, and Neil Gaiman.

Other prize winning authors who will speak include Sebastian Barry, Howard Jacobson, Elizabeth Strout, and others. The even will also include many other well known authors including Ian Rankin, Paula Hawkins, Helen Fielding, Hanif Kureishi and many more.

As you can see it’s set to be a star studded event as Hay Festival organisers pull out all the stops to celebrate the 30th year of the world famous event. The line up is said to be the best ever according to festival organisers and a full list of events, and ticket sales are available at hayfestival.org

The Hay Festival has become one of the most famous literary festivals in the world, held in a sleepy town in Wales that is famous for books. Known locally as the town of books, Hay is worth a visit for any biliophile whether the festival is on or not!
