Paddington Bear’s creator Michael Bond died at home in June, aged 91. The author who brought the marmalade loving bear to millions of children and adults alike wrote more than 200 books during his life featuring many characters from Paddington Bear to Olga da Polga, and A Mouse Called Thursday.
He wasn’t just known for children’s books either, gaining accolade for a series of adult detective novels featuring Monsieur Pamplemousse. The author’s works have inspired toys, television programmes and even the recent Paddington movie and now family, friends and colleagues will be able to celebrate the author’s life, and works at this memorial service.
The service will feature readings and music that reflect the author’s 60-year-career and while friends and family will be in attendance there are a small number of places available to fans. These places are limited, but free of charge and those wanting to reserve one can do so at Eventbrite.
The family has asked that no floral tributes are brought to the memorial service but donations can be made to Paddington Bear’s favourite charity, Action Medical Research in Bond’s name.
The memorial service will take place at St Paul’s Cathedral, London on 14th November 2017.
