“A mystery, a coming-of-age story, and an ensemble drama are woven together in this tale of love, loss, grief…and human remains found deep in the desert.”

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

This is the story of a woman and her daughter, Jess Winters, who move to Sycamore from Phoenix after a divorce.

Jess is not happy about the move. One night Jess goes out running to clear her head and she never returns.

Years later bones are found by a hiker and all wonder if Jess has finally been found. In flashbacks we learn all about Jess, her family and her friends. We learn about the difficulties she faced in adjusting to her new home and of the people she became closest to.

In the present mode of the novel we learn about how lives went on after Jess went missing. And than when these bones are found, how the thoughts about Jess come crashing back to all of them.

Well written, it is a sad yet uplifting novel. When the book finally comes full circle and all is known I feel you will be very satisfied that you have read a very good book.

Highly recommended.
