A tragic accident. It all happened so quickly. She couldn’t have prevented it. Could she?

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

I don’t know where to start with Clare Mackintosh’s I Let You Go. It starts with what appears to be a simple hit and run and the story switches between the police investigation and Jenna, a grieving woman who’s run away. Then half way through comes the twist…one I didn’t see coming and then it’s a rollercoaster to the end with more surprises…..

Clare’s writing draws you in, you think you know what’s happening but no she changes the direction you’re going without notice.

I must admit that this book made me cry. I don’t normally cry at crime thrillers so this could be a first but that shows how emotive the story telling is. A credit to the author!

I do hope there is more to come from Clare and hopefully from Stevens and his Bristol CID team. I can see this being the start of a series of well written addictive reads.

Thank you to Netgalley and Sphere for letting me read this book in exchange for my opinion.
