“Buckle up; there’s Magic, Sky Ships and Dragons in this roller coaster adventure ride.”

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

I’ve read a few of Colin R. Parson’s books, but this one is the longest and heftiest by far. A thrilling tale of adventure, written for small children.

An easy read full of fast-paced adventure, there’s enough to keep even the most reluctant child reader turning pages as the main characters escape from trouble, suffer a few near misses, and get into scrapes in this high adventure novel.

The characters are all likeable and relatable with plenty of balance between the realistic characters and the high fantasy setting. The three main characters, Rhidian, Rebus, and Red are all excellent, but Red is my favourite and his cheeky demeanor and quick wit reminded me of my own children.

There is so much going on in this novel, from ghost ships to jail breaks, featuring dragons, pirates and more. It’s so fast paced, I had finished it in three days and I’m confident that any children who receive this as a gift will love it!

If you’re an adult who is a fan of epic fantasy, then Wizard’s Exile may leave you wanting, but if you’re a child who loves fast paced fantasy, you’re going to love it!
