From the author of the bestselling The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat, The Supremes Sing the Happy Heartache Blues, an exuberant and poignant new novel of passions, family, and forgiveness.”

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

Just finished The Supremes Sing the Happy Heartache Blues by Edward Kelsey Moore.

This novel is a sequel to The Supremes at Earls all you can eat.  The Supremes are 3 friends from high school, Barbara Jean, Clarice and Odette, who is the narrator of the story.

They are back again, along with the ghosts that Odette can see, especially Odette’s mom and Eleanor Roosevelt. Yes, THAT Eleanor Roosevelt.  In this story El Walker, a legendary blues man has come back to town after many years, and his history comes with him.  His arrival will affect all the girls in different ways, but one of them especially so.

While you can read this novel as a stand alone, if you haven’t already, I would recommend reading the prior novel first.

I enjoyed Earl’s all you can eat more than this sequel, but this is still a solid second effort.

If you already ready and enjoyed the first book, you will not be disappointed.
