“A thoughtful focus on femininity, sisterhood, relationships, eating disorders, and what it means to be singled out.”

CONTAINS SPOILERS!

I just finished reading “The List” by Siobhan Vivian. This book follows 1 week in the lives of the 8 teenage girls put on the list. The person who wrote the list picks the “prettiest” and the “ugliest” girls in each grade in high school.

Abby, the prettiest freshman, revels in being put on the list while Sarah, the ugliest junior, rebels against it. This story has some plot twists that will keep you from putting the book down.

When I was reading it, I wanted to skip ahead to find out who wrote the list, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. When you read the ending and you find out who actually wrote the list, you will be shocked – you would never think that this character would’ve done something like that.

This book brings eating disorders and what popularity can do to someone into light and you feel your heart breaking slowly.

Siobhan Vivian is one of my favorite authors and “The List” proves why. I recommend this book for everybody to read.
