“”Drag Race fans, rejoice! Whether you’re looking for health and beauty tips or microguides to running your home, you’ll find something to love in Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood.””

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

Trixie Mattel and Katya AKA Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova (your dad just calls her Katya) are the drag personas of Brian McCook and Brian Michael Firkus. The pair first met when they competed on the seventh season of Ru Paul’s Drag Race and since then they have had expansive drag careers both separately and collaboratively. Together, Trixie and Katya are well known for their digital show, UNHhhh, which is available to watch on WOW+ and YouTube. UNHhhh is a series of short videos in which the pair talk about whatever they want because it’s their show, not yours. They riff together, laugh together and make countless ridiculous, weird and hilarious jokes.

Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood is a new book from the comedy duo. It’s a satirical, parody style book that mimics the guide’s for women and housewives from the past. Much like the rest of their collaborations, Trixie and Katya’s book doesn’t take life too seriously, it’s comedic and witty, and offers readers ‘advice’ in a ‘do what we say not what we do’ kind of way as the two drag queens share some of their most out-there stories.

Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood is broken into a variety of sections including; Hair, Make-up, Shoes and Hygiene. Many of the sections are written individually by either Trixie or Katya, taking the topics they have the most to talk and share about, for example, while Trixie takes make-up, Katya covers hair. Each of these sections features ‘advice’, hilarious commentary and, of course, the random and amusing anecdotes that we can all relate to in some way or another. As well as sections in which Trixie and Katya write separately, there are also topics that feature a conversation between the pair. These sections are the parts that most closely mimic the comradery and friendly banter that fans know and love them for in their other collaborations.

Finally, no drag queen book would be complete without a photo shoot. Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood is filled with new images of the pair, taken specifically for the book, that are either stunning, funny, downright disgusting or a combination of all the above. In order to see these images, we would suggest buying the physical copy but if you’d rather hear their voices and feel like you’re in another episode of UNHhhh then the audiobook is for you.
