The Time Traveller’s Bookshop & Gallery is a specialist antiquarian bookshop, offering rare books from the 16th century, to the 21st century. Although, they do still stock modern first editions and signed copies of well established books, as well as some out-of-print books and second hand material in excellent condition! So don’t be put off if you’re not into rare/historical books – you will still find something of interest!

The shelves are neatly organised, displaying a colourful array of books and art, and the entire store is lit up by spotlights – there is not one dim spot! This makes it a perfect place to relax and read a book which might be of interest to you, and there are trendy boxes suited up with cushions ready for the occasion. There are also several record players scattered throughout the shop, and they even have a rare vinyl section with wonderful collector’s items. This is no doubt an independent bookstore, and definitely the kind that we like – offering a breath of fresh air and uniqueness to the book selling process. Although, you really need to experience it to appreciate it, and we assure that it’ll be worth your time!

In addition, if you are buying for a book-looking friend, the wonderful staff are willing to assist you to find the perfect gift. They even offer a gift wrapping service with special, handmade papers. Although, if you don’t manage to find something, they also offer gift vouchers, which are valid at all the shop’s locations (as they also have a bookshop in West Cork, and County Mayo).

If you’re in Cork, and you love independent bookstores, this is a must visit. We especially like how the retro theme fits into the shop name, making you really feel as though you’ve stepped back in time!
