Children’s Bookshop in London Selling books for only £1

A children’s bookshop in Islington, London is selling children’s books for only £1 in order to encourage children to discover a love of reading. Called Children’s Books, the business has been run for the past five years by Mark Dunford in Chadwell Street, Islington, London.

Property owned in the heart of Islington could easily be rented out for a steep price, but Mark is more interested in bringing the community together over a love of books. “I’m a property developer and I own this shop, and the one next door,” said Mark. The one next door used to be the bookshop, but the fella retired. I moved it to its current unit five years ago.

“It’s a nice family thing, and 99 per cent of the books are only £1. It’s nice to give back. If I didn’t have the freehold, I wouldn’t be able to sell them that cheap in the centre of Islington.”

As The Islington Gazette reports, The books are all new and are a great way for parents to bond with their kids over reading at an affordable price. It’s not just a business for Mark, he has truly put his heart and soul into it.

“I absolutely love the place, he said. “It’s something to get up for in the morning. You meet so many different people here – from parents and kids to theatergoers from Sadler’s Wells around the corner.”

The shop is certainly popular and currently holds a perfect five-star rating on Google reviews. This is certainly one to check out if you find yourself in London.

Hi Helen, we’re not the bookshop, this is a news story, you’d need to contact them directly.
