Nancy Drew first appeared in 1930, and featured in books ghostwritten by many different authors, and published under the collective pseudonym Carolyn Keene.

Over the years the character has evolved to suit tastes and needs of readers, especially in the USA, and in the 1980s Nancy became more mature, wiser, and more sensible than her earlier incarnations.

Now in 2018 she is back- and is a thoroughly modern Nancy! Dynamite Entertainment announced the new Nancy Drew comic book series written by Kelly Thompson (Marvel’s Hawkeye, IDW’s Jem and the Holograms) and artist Jenn St-Onge (Tee Franklin’s Bingo Love).

The new comic book series features Nancy Drew as a 17-year-old detective who returns to the home she had left behind to solve a mystery that involves her childhood friends. In true thriller style there is someone after Nancy, and they will stop at nothing to see her gone… For good.

The writer, Kelly Thompson said:

“One of my absolute favourite things about Nancy is the look on people’s faces when you say her name. Everyone from my mother (who is never terribly interested in my superhero projects, but it very kind and pretends to be!) to friends of all different ages have this incredible connection to Nancy — and everyone sees her a bit differently. She is a powerful character that can connect to so many different people in so many different ways.”

The illustrator, St-Onge, added: “”As someone who read stacks of Carolyn Keene’s mystery stories as a young girl, Nancy Drew has been high on my list of ‘characters I’d like to draw comics of’ for a while now. Getting to work on a series that I loved as a kid, as well as collaborating with Kelly Thompson again is honestly the best possible combination I could’ve asked for!”

Look out for when Nancy is on the case! The series launches June 2018.
