For Reading Addicts Reading Challenge 2021 – August

Hey it’s August and it’s been hot and humid here in the UK. We hope you are still participating in this year’s challenge, we know some of you are reading lots of books by the amount you are sharing on the Cwts Discussion Group page.

Just a reminder of this year’s challenge, we wanted to stick to the inclusive style of the 2020 challenge but have different categories. We’re still going to have the three options, Easy, Hard and Super Reader but this year’s monthly category will be “Read Around the World”. Hopefully, this will mean that everyone can join in, whether you read one book a month or three or more!

August’s categories are:-

EASY – ALPHABETICAL CHALLENGE

Read a book with a title that begins with an H or a T.

I’m not going to list recommendations this year as obviously the amount of books fitting these categories are endless.

HARD – MONTHLY CATEGORY CHALLENGE

Read a book set in or by an author from South Asia.

Here are just a few suggestions:

Behind the Beautiful Forevers – Katherine Boo

A Fine Balance – Rohinton Mistry

A Suitable Boy – Vikram Seth

A Passage to India – EM Forster

Suggested authors from Southern Africa included Wilbur Smith, Alan Paton, J.M Coetzee, Lewis Nkosi, Zakes Mda, Nadine Gordimer, Bessie Head, Edna Rosen, Wame Molefhe.

SUPER READER – READ HARDER CHALLENGE

Read a book with a title beginning with H or T (or both) and read a book set in or by an author from South Asia.

As usual pick a book from our list, pop along to your local book shop or library, order something online, or pick up something that’s already in your TBR pile.

Don’t forget to share what you are reading in our Cwts Club Discussion Group.
