Amazon Prime gives members free shipping on their goods as well as allowing them to tune into loads of great TV shows and films for no extra charge. This service has certainly done well, but now Amazon is inviting book readers into the fold by offering Amazon Prime Reading.
Prime Reading will allow US members to get unlimited access to thousands of ebooks, magazines, and comics at no extra cost to the $99 yearly subscription. The amount of books on offer is very impressive and, as Arstechnica reports, includes the likes of Harry Potter, The Hobbit, and the Peanuts Collection, as well as the latest issue of magazines such as National Geographic, People, and Sports Illustrated.
If you already have an Amazon Prime US membership then you should be able to get access to all this literature right now. You don’t even need to own an Amazon Kindle or Fire tablet. Prime Reading can be accessed via Kindle apps for both the iOS and Android.
Prime Reading is similar to another service provided by Amazon called Kindle Unlimited. Kindle Unlimited charges customers a monthly $10 fee and then gives readers access to over a million books to read. Perhaps not as extensive as Kindle Unlimited, Prime Reading is a great addition to the free shipping and online streaming that comes with a Prime memberships and may also get some subscribers into Kindle Unlimited.
Given that Amazon started life as a book selling company, it seems only fitting that literature should be a part of Amazon’s Prime membership incentives. As someone who is already sorely tempted by Amazon Prime, Prime Reading is certainly making the service even more attractive. Here’s hoping it gets added to the UK soon.
