The Pulitzer Prize is the biggest US prize for the arts, awarding prizes for literature, drama, music and journalism. It’s the literature prizes we are of course interested in and today we announce the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and the rest of the literature prizes.

The main literature prize, the Pulitzer Prize for fiction goes to Less by Andrew Sean Greer this year. A funny and touching tale, Less follows the life of mid-list novelist who needs to grow up. Here’s that, and the other Pulitzer winners for 2018.

Women’s Prize For Fiction Shortlist Has Been Announced

On International Women’s Day 2018, the longlist for the Women’s Prize for Fiction was announced. Those 16 books were read and discussed by the panel of judges- Sarah Sands, Katy Brand, Anita Anand, Catherine Mayer, and Imogen Stubbs- and whittled down to a final sensational 6.

The process is tough as there is so much wonderful talent to choose from, but after heated debates and heartfelt advocacies for favourite novels the shortlist has been decided upon.

Kindle Storyteller Award Back for Second Year

Last year Kindle announced its first ever Storyteller Award for authors who publish their work through Kindle Direct Publishing in the UK. Last year the thriller, The Relic Hunters won the first ever award and now it’s announced that the award is back for a second year.

Man Booker Submits to Beijing and Causes Controversy by Listing Taiwanese Author as Chinese

The Man Booker International Prize is one of the most prestigious literary awards in the world and has been awarded to the likes of Margaret Atwood, Julian Barnes, and Hilary Mantel. A major controversy has now stirred after the organisation changed the nationality of a Taiwanese nominee to “Taiwan, China,” following pressure from the Chinese embassy in London.

The Chinese government believes the island of Taiwan is part of China’s territory and wants to see the country brought into the fold, by force if necessary. China has since been undermining and excluding Taiwan on the global forum in order to quell ideas that it is its own country. Many Taiwan’s 23 million citizens reject China’s claim and the country has its own government, military, and foreign policy.  Read More
