5 Books Gandhi Would Read Today.

By October 2, 2016January 29th, 2018Guest Blogs, Literature

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on the 2nd of October 1869 in Porbandar, India. The honourable name of Mahatma (Sanskrit for high-souled) was given to him in 1914 as he became the catalyst for social change all over the world. Through non-violent protest and peaceful practice, Gandhi inspired civil rights movements across India and South Africa. Millions mourned him when he was assassinated in 1948 by an extremist Hindu Nationalist.

As October 2nd is Gandhi’s birthday and the International Day of Non-Violence we decided to celebrate it with a literary slant. Here at For Reading Addicts HQ we were wondering what books he would enjoy if he had lived today. We have explored peaceful, meditative, and philosophically inspiring books and picked five of our favourites. Let us know if we have missed any important ones!
