April is upon us and if you’re in the northern hemisphere then spring is finally upon us. Whether you’re stacking up reads for your summer holiday, or just making sure you have something good to read in bed, you might be looking at the new releases!

We’ve trawled the new releases for April and picked what we think are the five best books, across the genres! Hopefully there’s something for everyone, especially as this month marks some great releases from some already well known authors!

(released 7th April)

More gritty drama from Irvine Welsh as California meets Edinburgh, and an old life meets a new one! As always Welsh combines ultra-violence with redemption, gritty realism with comic horror. Oh, and Begbie is back.

The Disappearance – Annabel Kantaria

(released 21st April)

The Little French Guesthouse – Helen Pollard

(released 28th April)

The Little French Guesthouse looks like it’s going to be the perfect summer read, and the first in a series too so there’s more to come. Romance, humour, sunshine, and more books in the series to follow, what more could you want?

The Road to Little Dribbling – Bill Bryson

Twenty years ago, Bill Bryson went on a trip around Britain to celebrate  the green and kindly island that had become his adopted country and what followed was Notes from a Small Island. Now to mark the anniversary of the modern classic, Bryson is off doing it all again!
