Disney’s Live Action Beauty and The Beast Looks Amazing

By November 3, 2016New Releases

We have all seen the wonderful animated version of Beauty and The Beast that Disney created way back in 1991 (can you believe it was that long ago that we all fell a little in love with The Beast and a lot in love with his library?) which was a triumph of storytelling with some of the best voice castings for an animated film but now Disney are making a live action adaptation of Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve’s 1740 original tale of the beautiful young woman who tamed the beast and won his heart.

The tale of Beauty and The Beast that we are all familiar with today is the abridged version Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont wrote in 1756 and which was published in Magasin des enfants (Shop of children) and it has been one of the more popular fairy tales of its time with the Disney Live Action film the latest in a long line of adaptations both literary and on the big screen.

With a cast including Emma Watson, Kevin Cline, Luke Evans, Sir Ian McKellen, Ewan Mcgregor, Dan Stevens, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw this is a star studded film with typically spectacular special effects and it promises to be a visual delight when it hits our screens in March 2017. Fortunately for us Entertainment Weekly was given a sneak preview of how our favourite Beauty and the Beast characters are going to look and here they are in all their glory.

A first look of Kevin Kline as Belle’s father Maurice and of course Emma Watson in her everyday bookish, doting daughter garb.

Everyone’s favourite household objects; Cogsworth, Mrs Potts, Lumiere and not forgetting the beautiful Plumette.

Luke Evans looks decidedly obnoxious as the perfectly villainous (and woefully lacking in appreciation of a good book) Gaston.

Le Fou? More like Le Fool.

Dreary and dilapidated this looks nothing like a Ballroom– yet.

Emma lights up the Ballroom both literally and metaphorically in this gorgeous real life version of Belle’s Ballgown.

The one we’ve all been waiting for- the library, isn’t it heavenly.

Oh yes and the rather dashing Dan Stevens as a perfectly hirsute Beast, I almost missed him then.

A behind the scenes shot that we had to include because books.

I don’t know about you but I cannot wait to see the library in all its post production glory.
