Stephen King Collaboration Sleeping Beauties Releases Today to Mixed Reviews

By September 26, 2017New Releases

Stephen King fans will no doubt have picked up their copy today, it being on pre-order for months but for those who haven’t heard Stephen King and his son Owen have collaborated on a new novel and it’s out today!

Sleeping Beauties by Stephen and Owen King hit bookstores today and already the major review sources are publishing reviews, calling it everything from a ‘return to form for King snr’ (The Guardian), to ‘lacks page-turning intensity’ (The Chicago Tribune).

The novel concentrates on the real world, or at least King’s world anyway. Set in a small town in America, women begin falling asleep and they can’t be woken, then they start to grow tendrils and everyone’s in trouble. The action centres around a prison, where all but one inmate (Evie) are succumbing to this sleep sickness. Around town, women try desperately to stay awake as the genders turn against each other.

In true King style, Sleeping Beauties comes in at a whopping 736 pages and good or bad is almost guaranteed to be a bestseller.

We’re sure King fans will love the novel. Personally in this collaboration I’m fascinated by the dynamics and what it must be like to write a novel as a father and son duo. The creative process for Sleeping Beauties must have been an interesting one, and should ensure Owen King has at least one bestseller to his name.
