Amazon Releases A Kindle for your Manga

By November 1, 2016News, Reading Formats

But only if you live in Japan – For now

Amazon is constantly updating and upgrading its eReaders with the emphasis on functionality and user friendliness. With up to 4GB of storage Amazon claims that thousands of titles can be stored on their new Paperwhites and that it is highly unlikely that anyone could ever run out of storage if their Kindles are used with the genuine intent to read everything that is stored upon them, however that is only the case if the books you are reading are in classical print format but what if you want a Kindle for your Manga?

In Japan and increasingly so in the rest of the world another reading style is gaining popularity, the Manga genre is once again huge in Japan accounting for 40% of all book sales in 2014 and with Anime being shown across the globe the literary originals are being snapped up in ever greater numbers. Unfortunately the current memory capacity of Amazon’s Kindles is not able to store these beautifully intricate and memory heavy books in any kind of volume and so Amazon is missing out on a large audience as Manga lovers return to traditionally printed versions of their favourite genre.

Of course Amazon is not one to sit on it laurels and is definitely not a company that is happy to leave a huge section of potential customers unsatisfied so it has released a new Manga friendly Paperwhite with a staggering 32GB of storage.

Promising to hold over 700 volumes of Manga and with a 33 percent increase in page turn speed compared to current models the new Manga friendly Paperwhite is currently only available in Japan priced at ¥16,280, which converts to around $160, AU$200 and £130 but with Manga and Graphic novels so popular worldwide it is only a matter of time before they arrive in an Amazon store near you.
