Amazon Signs Major Publishing Deal for Unseen Cookson Novels

Time for a Catherine Cookson Revival?

Amazon Publishing has signed a deal that will have fans of Catherine Cookson celebrating with joy as it’s revealed that the Internet giant is to publish two new and unseen titles by the late author.

Dame Catherine Ann Cookson passed away in 1998 but her novels remain popular to this day. Before the author died two manuscripts were found at her home, a novel entitled Saint Christopher and the Gravedigger and a non-fiction title, A Catherine Cookson memoir, and now thanks to this deal with Amazon Publishing, both titles will be available to purchase in the near future.

These aren’t works that the author wrote late in her life, but manuscripts from earlier in her career. Saint Christopher and the Gravedigger is thought to have been written in 1952 and is described as refreshingly funny.

Although Amazon have the publishing deal, it is just that, which means you won’t have to go to Amazon to buy the books as they will be available everywhere that wishes to stock them.

However, with Amazon taking such a big share of the market place they’ll be running a ‘Revival promotion’ for Cookson’s backlist when the new works are released. This move is likely to introduce the books such as The Silent Lady and The Round Tower to a new generation of readers, while promoting the author’s new posthumous works too.
