“Brenda’s Beaver Needs a Barber” WILL make you laugh…

By March 5, 2019 Literature, News

Brenda’s Beaver Needs a Barber is the one of a set of innuendo laden picture books by Bimisi Tayanita (Author), and Sumguyen Bangladesh (Illustrator).

As it is such a unique piece of fiction… We feel it is best to let the artists explain their book themselves:

“Sumguyen has always had a thick mane of hair, in the summer of 2016 he decided to grow a beard. Deep into month three he started to look like an armpit with eyeballs.

It was a sultry August night in Old Town Scottsdale as Bimisi and Sumguyen made their way from one bar to another. They took pause to to enjoy the rhythms of a homeless crooner who was soulfully picking his guitar.

When Sumguyen threw a five into his tip jar the artist looked up, thanked him with a nod and said, “That is a beautiful beard. My friend Brenda has a beard just like that, but hers doesn’t talk.”

A fair amount of beer sprayed from Bimisi’s nose…and just like that they had their subject matter for the final book of Season One.

Through the timeless power of double entendre, Reach Around Books will have the reader in tears of laughter while to any juvenile listener they are completely innocent. If you are offended by humor, don’t buy our books. If your kid is offended by our books, that implies they understand terms only found in the Urban Dictionary™…You failed as a parent long before Reach Around Books came into your life.

-Toodles!”

CNN’s chief White House Correspondent Jim Acosta, is currently writing a book concerning governmental pressures on the free press.

It is no secret that Jim Acosta and US President Donald Trump have had more than one head-to-head during White House briefings with the press. A contentious briefing after the mid-term elections prompted Trump to suspend Acosta’s press pass, however his decision was later overturned by a federal judge.

Acosta’s book, which was being written well before Trump’s attempted ban on the CNN correspondent, will show “never-before-revealed stories of this White House’s rejection of truth, while laying out the stakes for how Trump’s hostility toward facts poses an unprecedented threat to our democracy” according to the publishers HarperCollins.

Killing Eve and Doctor Who star Susan Lynch and Charlatans singer Tim Burgess have temporarily closed a bookshop in Gloucester. Cornell Books in High Street, Tewkesbury has been taken over for three days to be the filming location for Susan Lynch’s directorial début and Tim Burgess’ acting début.

The short film titled The Bookshop will star Burgess in the lead role, as bookshop owner Leonard. In an interview for Gloucestershire Live, Susan Lynch explains the inspiration and story behind the film. Sitting beside Burgess with a bookshelf backdrop, Lynch tells us, “I saw Tim in concert in the Charltons and what struck me about his energy on stage is that he’s like so many different people. So, the inspiration for The Bookshop came from all the different roles that I saw Tim be in the Charlatans and we’ve sort of transferred that idea of fantasy into a very beautiful fable about a guy who works in a bookshop whose got demons from his past and he faces those demons through the other people that come in to the bookshop.”
