Duchess of Cornwall has started a book club and you are invited!

Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, is a lifelong book lover and is the Patron of The Royal Society of Literature, BookTrust and First Story, among others.

The Duchess is now sharing her love of literature with the world through her online book group, the Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room.

The new project was launched with a new Instagram account, @duchessofcornwallsreadingroom: ‘Join The Duchess of Cornwall in The Reading Room; discover new books & meet the extraordinary people who create them. First season opens 15 January 📚.’

The first book club Instagram post was posted on the 31st of December 2020 and welcomed new followers by explaining which book will first be shared, The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse by Charlie Mackesy:

‘Welcome to HRH The Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room! 📚 We’re excited for you to join us when the first season launches later in January 2021. Ahead of that, HRH is sharing this special book and her conversation with @charliemackesy to kick off the New Year.’

Camilla describes the book as “Warm, funny, profoundly moving and beautifully illustrated, this charming book leaves you feeling better about the world.”

The Duchess also posted a handwritten note from the author Charlie Macksey which read:

“Dear Duchess, I am very glad to hear your book club is reading The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse. How can I help? Love, Charlie.”

The author and artist has since dedicated a drawing of ‘The Reading Room Owl’ specially for the book club.

A video call conversation between the Duchess and Mackesy was also posted, and fans are treated to the pair’s conversation about the author’s writing. The Duchess has much praise for the book calling it ‘an easy read but a deep read’, and suggesting it is the perfect book to give a friend.
