First Full Trailer of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale Doesn’t Shy from Political Parallels

By March 27, 2017News, Video

When activists arrived at Texas Senate Chambers last week to oppose two anti-choice bills dressed in full red robes as homage to The Handmaid’s Tale it was hard not to draw parallels between the events that start the horrors in the dystopian novel, and the reality of politics right now.

If you were in any doubt then the full trailer of Hulu’s adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale should push that away as producers promise to bring all the gritty events in the book to life.

As the trailer opens with the words ‘When they slaughtered Congress we didn’t wake up. When they blamed terrorists and suspended the constitution we didn’t wake up.’ it’s hard not to miss the parallels that were a little more subtle in the novel.

Here it is, and with the premier on Hulu on April 26th, this is not to be missed.

If you’re hoping to read the novel before the series airs, you need to be quick now. You can find a full review of The Handmaid’s Tale here.
