‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’ is a magical take on ‘Pokémon GO’

If you’ve ever dreamed about enrolling at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, or fancied trying your hand at a game of Quidditch, then you’ll want to check out a brand new mobile game that is set to be released. Called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, the game is similar to the hugely popular 2016 mobile game Pokémon GO, but adds a magical twist.

The augmented-reality game will let you live out your fantasies of being a witch or wizard and will turn your everyday streets into places of magic. Players can visit real-world locations, cast spells, discover magical artifacts, and encounter iconic characters and beasts from the films and books. Players will also get to choose their wizarding house such as Gryffindor and Slytherin, as well as their very own wand, and an occupation such as Professor, Auror or Magizoologist.

Players will have to physically explore the real world to locate creatures. Inns can be visited to restore your health, greenhouses will grant you potion ingredients, and fortresses will host fights. A beta version of the game was launched in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year, but now the full game is set to be released on Friday 21 June. It will be available for iOS and Android phones.
