HBO Drops New ‘Watchmen’ Trailer

By September 21, 2019News

The Watchmen graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons has become one of the most revered graphic novels ever published and it proved that comics can stand toe-to-tie with traditional books when it comes to storytelling. If you’re a fan of Watchmen then you’re probably aware that HBO is working on an upcoming TV show based on the comics, and a new trailer has just been released.

The series is not an adaptation of the original comic but is instead set decades after those events took place. Most of the characters present will be newcomers, though a few familiar faces will return, including Adrian Veidt / Ozymandias, who’s played by Jeremy Irons, and the mysterious Doctor Manhattan.

The story will be set in the modern day, but in an alternative era where the internet and smart phones have not been invented. A terrorist group of vigilantes, known as ‘The seventh Cavalry’, wear masks in homage to the fallen vigilante Rorschach, and have begun terrorizing police in their homes, who in turn take to wearing masks in order to protect themselves and their families. As the bodies begin to pile up, only one question remains; who watches the Watchmen?

The show is set to air on October 20 and the first season will consist of nine episodes. The show will be aired on HBO in the US but will be available in other regions on alternative networks such as Sky Atlantic in the UK.
