JK Rowling Donates £1 Million to Homeless and Domestic Violence Charities

JK Rowling, creator of the Harry Potter universe, announced on Twitter that she is donating £1 million to charities protecting and supporting vulnerable people during the COVID19 viral pandemic lockdown.

£500k will go to Crisis in aid of homeless people, and the other £500k will go to Refuge to support victims of domestic abuse.

Rowling’s announcement of the donations arrived on #HarryPotterDay on Twitter where she marked the day famous to all Potter fans with a serious of tweets, and her announcement.

The day marks a special day in the Harry Potter universe.

On Twitter, Rowling said:

“Today’s the 22nd anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, but I am going to be honest and say that it feels inappropriate to talk about fictional deaths.

“Too many people are losing loved ones in the real world.”
