Maggie O’Farrell’s Hamnet movie adaptation coming soon

Hamnet, the award-winning historical novel by Maggie O’Farrell, is being adapted for film by Amblin Partnes, Hera Pictures, and Neal Street Productions.

The acclaimed story of Agnes, wife of William Shakespeare, as she comes to terms with the death of her son Hamnet. The novel has been described as a ‘masterwork’ and a story of ‘character, humanity, and love’, and will no doubt be an equally poetic and profound film.

Chiara Atik is adapting the script for screen

Chiara Atik is heading up the script, and Liza Marshall, Sam Mendes and Pippa Harris will be producing the movie.

Atik previously worked with slated projected ‘Beautiful Ruins’ with Amblin and Neal Street, a drama set in an Italian seaside village in 1962, and telling the story of a man who runs a hotel and who falls for an American starlet.
