Earlier this year we wrote an article about a British children’s author who disappeared without a trace back in April; today we bring you the dreadful news that a man has been arrested on suspicion of the Helen Bailey murder.
Helen went missing on April 11th whilst out walking her beloved dachshund Boris in Royston Hertfordshire after allegedly leaving a note for her partner Ian Stewart saying she needed some time alone.
Despite extensive searches and widespread appeals nothing has been seen or heard from her since and it seemed that wherever she was, she had hidden herself very well. Her phone remained unused and her bank accounts untouched and the longer she remained missing the less likely it seemed that she had vanished under her own volition.
Sadly it appears this was not the case at all and on July 11th police announced they had taken custody of a man, arrested on suspicion of her murder and although they have not confirmed his identity the police have stated that “The 55 year old man from Royston is being questioned at a police station in Hertfordshire on suspicion of murder, disposing of a body in a manner likely to obstruct the Coroner and suspicion of theft of money belonging to Helen Bailey.”
Whilst this news is probably the worst case scenario for Helen’s family, perhaps the closure of knowing what happened to her may offer some solace. And of course as there have been no charges made as yet, there is the slim possibility that Helen is out there, safe and sound.
Our thoughts are with Helen’s family and friends.
