Neil Gaiman’s The Mushroom Hunters is an award-winning poem created originally for The Universe in Verse- a charitable celebration of science through poetry.
In 2017, The Universe in Verse was celebrating women’s unappreciated and often ignored contribution to science. Gaiman offered his lyrical storytelling with its heart firmly set as a counter to women’s erasure from history, particularly science.
The imaginative and heartwarming poem has now been brought once again through the medium of an animated short film. The intriguing story is animated by artist Caroline Rudge with Creative Connection Animation Studio, and narrated by Amanda Palmer, with music by Jherek Bischoff.
