Netflix Drops New Trailer for ‘The Witcher’

By November 2, 2019News

Andresj Sapkowski’s Witcher novels shot to fame in recent years thanks to the success of several critically acclaimed video game adaptations, particularly The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Sapkowski’s books follow a grizzled Witcher named Geralt, who roans the lands taking on contracts to rid the world of monsters. To the delight of fans, Netflix acquired the rights for a TV adaptation of the books and has now released the first official, full-length, trailer.

A teaser trailer was released earlier this year, but this new trailer serves as our first proper look at what’s to come. Henry Cavill, who previously played Superman, takes on the role of Geralt of Rivia, with Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe. The first season will consist of eight episodes and is set to be released on December 20.

Fans of the books will be glad to know that Andrzej Sapkowski is on board as a creative consultant. Here’s hoping the series lives up to the quality of the books and games.
