The publisher due to distribute The Fight for Truth: The Inside Story Behind the Breonna Taylor Tragedy has cancelled their involvement due to widespread criticism.

Simon & Schuster who were due to distribute the book by Sgt Jonathan Mattingly, originally claimed they had no control over books released by other publishers but, after campaigns and criticism, they published another statement in which they distanced themselves from the author and his book.

The small publishers responsible for the title, Post Hill Press, specialise in ‘conservative politics’ and publishes books by far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer and the controversial Republican congressman Matt Gaetz.

“Like much of the American public, earlier today Simon & Schuster learned of plans by distribution client Post Hill Press to publish a book by Jonathan Mattingly,” the publisher said. “We have subsequently decided not be involved in the distribution of this book.”

Kelsey Merritt of Post Hill Press told the New York Post that the publisher supported freedom of speech and Sgt. Mattingly:

“In the case of Sgt Mattingly, the mainstream media narrative has been entirely one-sided related to this story and we feel that he deserves to have his account of the tragic events heard publicly, as well,” she told the New York Times. “Post Hill Press is standing behind our decision to publish his story.”
