By March 10, 2017Literature, News

Moments In Time specialises in vintage and rare letters, manuscripts, signed photos, and autographs. Their collection includes Babe Ruth’s contract with the New York Yankees, a signed photograph of Igor Stravinsky, and a gun belonging to Elvis Presley!

Among the more rare pieces on the site, is one of the original documents belonging to Oskar Schindler which was drawn up to protect Jewish workers from deportation and death.

Dated 18 April 1945, the authentic 14-page document is Schindler’s penultimate list of 801 Jewish men at Schindler’s factory in Czechoslovakia. They had been transported from the Nazi concentration camp at Plaszow in German-occupied Poland.

The website states:

“This exceedingly rare original Schindler’s List is the only one to ever be on the market. It emanates from the family of Itzhak Stern, Schindler’s accountant and right hand man (played in the movie by Ben Kingsley). The provenance is ironclad. There are 3 others known, two in Yad Vashem, one in the U.S. Holocaust Museum.

This version of the list (there are seven all told) is the penultimate, being 14 pages in length and listing 801 names, dated April 18, 1945.

A more poignant and historic World War 2 relic cannot be imagined. This is the opportunity of a lifetime to acquire an item of truly incredible magnitude.”

The list is said to be worth over £2million, so it will be a dedicated historian or collector who will purchase this piece.

Schindler’s life was documented by Australian novelist Thomas Keneally in his non-fiction story Schindler’s Ark with inspiration and help from Holocaust survivor, Poldeck Pfefferberg. The novel won the Booker Prize in 1982, and later in 1993, inspired the Steven Spielberg film Schindler’s List which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture.
