Want to Support the #BLM Protests via Books? Here’s How

By June 12, 2020Bookshops, News

If, like many people across the globe, you want to do your part to support the protests against police brutality, particularly against black individuals, then there’s plenty you can do, from demonstrating to writing to your representatives in the Government. We’re assuming most of our readers here are bibliophiles and, with that in mind, you can feed your book habit while supporting black book-owned bookstores.

The above image shows a number of black-owned bookstores across the United States, but don’t worry if there aren’t any close to you. Head over to aalbc.com (African America Literature Book Club) to see a list of bookstores in the US run and owned by African-Americans. Those outside of the US should also take a look, as there are also some stores listed in Canada, Jamaica and the UK.

Buying your books from these stores will not only show solidarity with those calling for an end to racism, but will also help support independent book stores and ensures you have something good to read.
