Warner Bros. Announces ‘Harry Potter’ TV Show

By July 5, 2019Adaptations, News

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books have been enjoyed by young readers (and readers who are young at heart) for years, and the excellent film adaptations brought the wizarding world to life on the big screen. There’s been plenty of new Harry Potter-themed media since the last book was published, including a new series of prequel films, but now all you witches and wizards can look forward to an upcoming Harry Potter TV show.

Warner Bros. has announced that it is in the very early stages of developing a TV series based on Rowling’s magical world. Details are scarce, but the show will apparently be set at Hogwarts, with some scenes taking place in different parts of Europe. The show will air on Warner Bros.’ upcoming streaming service which is set to release in beta later this year and then officially launch in 2020.

Harry Potter won’t be the only major franchise to appear, Warner Bros. owns a number of high profile IPs including the likes of the DC movies, the Godzilla and King Kong shared cinematic universe, The Lego movies, and the Looney Tunes franchise. There’s certainly a lot of potential to be had with creating new shows for the streaming service. There are now a number of streaming service competing for your attention, from Amazon Prime to Netflix, but Warner Bros. certainly has plenty of material to grab your attention with.
