Literary Advent Calendar: The Stupidest Angel

By December 11, 2016Reading Excerpts

Every day of advent, we’re bringing you a literary quote, poem or snippet and today we have a little festive funniness for you from Christopher Moore’s, The Stupidest Angel. A real laugh out loud Christmas book about an angel who never gets things right and about the true spirit of Christmas.

It’s a love read, and we’re starting off with the first paragraph of Chapter One, Christmas Creeps. Enjoy!

Christmas crept into Pine Cove like a creeping Christmas thing: dragging garland, ribbon, and sleigh bells, oozing eggnog, reeking of pine, and threatening festive doom like a cold sore under the mistletoe.

Ahhhh, you can almost smell the stress of the commercial season, can’t you? While The Stupidest Angel is a great comedy read, the writing is beautiful and it evokes all the pleasures, and displeasures of the festive season, from the smell of pine to stressful Christmas shopping.

We’ll be back tomorrow with another snippet, keeping you in the mood for the festive season! With just two weeks to go until Christmas Day, we hope it’s working.
