Bibliophiles Make the Best Lovers, Survey Reveals

By December 8, 2017News, Reading Habits

If you think reading is hot then you’re not alone as a recent survey has revealed that reading can seriously affect your love life. Dating website eHarmony recently found that if you list reading as a hobby on your dating profile, you’re more likely to appeal to the opposite sex.

It also revealed that bookworms are found to be ‘more intellectually curious than most and find it easier to form open and trusting relationships with others’. Men who listed reading as a hobby on eHarmony were 19% more likely to receive messages from potential suitors, while for women that figure was 3%.

It’s not just about reading either, what you read can really matter so if you’re dishonest you’re likely to be caught out. For instance, men who list having read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo were 36% more likely to get attention (31%) for females. 1984, Game of Thrones and the Da Vinci Code were also likely to earn you some brownie points.

However, if you’re a man it may be best not to admit you’re a Harry Potter fan, Potterites of the male variety got 55% fewer messages, and women who list Fifty Shades of Grey throws up a similar result.

Of course this survey only confirms what us reading addicts already know, reading makes you infinitely sexier and bookworms are hot!

Statistics aside, it’s probably best to be honest with any potential suitor so if you want to say you read, maybe it’s time to start and if you want to say you’ve read certain books, get them on your TBR to increase your ‘hot appeal’.
