It was recently announced that the British TV show Peaky Blinders will be getting three more seasons before it ends with the onset of World War II. The show is inspired by a real gang called the Peaky Blinders which was one of many found in Birmingham following the end of the Great War. The show received critical acclaim upon its debut and has since become one of the most-watched shows currently on air.
The last season ended in December of last year and season 5 is set to air sometime next year. If you can’t bear to wait that long then hopefully a stay at The Garrison, a Peaky Blinders themed hotel in Birmingham, will help tide you over.
Situated less than a mile away from the original Garrison, the owners of the new Garrison Hotel and Bar have run The Peaky Blinders pub in Dale End for five years. Wanting to create a more authentic experience for fans, they’re now opening this Peaky Blinders themed hotel in the heart of Birmingham.
As Birmingham Mail reports, owner Tom O’Rourke said: “The Garrison is coming back to Birmingham! It’s a fantastic part of Brummie history and we’re really excited about opening. We’ve had O’Rourke’s for a while and the building itself is well over 100 years old. To me, it looks just like The Garrison from the series. It’s the same design and has the same layout. We should be finishing the bar off this week. There will be 12 bedrooms, a bar and a lounge. It will be just like the Garrison with the oak finishes and boutique-style interior. It will be proper and as if you’re back in the 1920s with Tommy, Arthur and the boys.”
Tom, 34, said: “I’ve met Steven Knight a few times and I know he is delighted how his hometown is getting recognition on the back of the series. Peaky Blinders is a global brand which belongs to Birmingham because they were real people. We have been amazed by how many fans turn up to our bar in Dale End, we always make a fuss of them, take a photo and put them on our wall of fame. The Commonwealth Games is coming to Birmingham in four years and we will have people from across the world visiting our city so we expect The Garrison to be very popular.”
Rooms at The Garrison will be £35 per night. Building is expected to finish in the next three to four weeks and the hotel will open with as launch party which the owners hope might see some of the stars of the show attend.
