Word of the Day – Licentious

By January 21, 2016Word of the Day

Licentious (adj)

lie-sens-shuss

Promiscuous and unprincipled in sexual matters.

I love the archaic definition of this wonderful word; disregarding accepted conventions, especially in grammar or literary style. It’s how Yoda would write isn’t it.

Example sentences

“She has a reputation for being licentious; if she were a man she’d be a stud.”

“William Faulkner was renowned for his licentious style.”
