Word of the Day – Outwith

By May 10, 2015Word of the Day

Outwith (preposition) (Scottish)

owt-with

Outside, beyond

What a wonderful little bit of Scottish dialect. I really love compound words and this one is particularly appealing.

Example sentences

“Campbell has lived outwith Scotland his whole life so has only just learned this new word.”

“She decided if she was really going to travel it was time to venture outwith the UK.”
